CAMPING QUESTIONS

1. How do I find out how many places are left on a particular camp?

It's easy. Simply go to the Register Now page and select the season a particular camp is in. At the top of the camp that you're interested in there's a heading titled 'Availability'. This will tell you whether there are many, a few or no places left on that camp. This information will be updated daily.

2. My child doesn't know anyone else on camp. Will he/she be OK?

Nearly every CRU Camp has a few campers who arrive not knowing anyone else. Our leaders are trained to watch, care for and assimilate campers to ensure they feel part of the group from the get go! As a result, campers have a fantastic time and leave having made many new friends.

3. How do I find out details for camps in future seasons? When do they open for online registrations?

Please visit our Register Now page for information on camps for every season. Simply select the season you are interested in to see the latest information. We update this information regularly. To assist you with forward planning, CRU Camps now open camp registrations online two seasons in advance! Please supply us with your email address (either at the time of registration or contact the office), and we'll send you advanced email alerts to ensure you are informed as soon as rgistrations open for future seasons.

4. Who looks after the campers?

A team of young, committed, Christian leaders look after the campers 24 hours a day. All leaders are reference checked, up to date on child protection procedures and have completed government working with children declaration requirements. Leaders are also fully trained for their specific roles on camp. In addition to a Camp Director and young adult volunteer leaders, primary camps also have a 'camp mum and dad' to comfort young campers who may experience homesickness.

5. How many leaders are on each camp?

We have an exceptional standard of care with 1 leader to every 5 campers, meaning that your child will be well looked after.

6. Are the leaders trained to handle emergencies?

Every CRU Holiday Camp has at least 2 qualified Senior First Aid officers on team who can offer immediate medical assistance if required. The Director of each camp is supplied with detailed information on the location of the nearest hospital and medical centre to ensure swift action if any injuries or emergencies occur on camp. Crusaders also have a doctor on call throughout each holiday season to offer advice to Camp Directors.

7. What are the sleeping arrangements?

Girls sleep in separate dormitories to boys and there are leaders in each cabin block to ensure appropriate standards of behaviour.  We facilitate camps at a variety of locations, but as a general guide we use sites with 6-10 beds in each room.

8. Can my child be in the same room as his/her friend?

Campers can room with whoever they chose, as long as they are of the same gender and the director does not choose to separate them for disciplinary reasons. Simply write the name of the friend your child would like to bunk with on the booking form under the Personal Details section headed 'Room mate'. Please note: in some circumstances campers may not get all of their room mate preferences, and camp directors may choose to split campers for disciplinary reasons.

9. My child's friend might be attending the same camp as my child but they haven't registered yet. Can I still put them down as a room mate preference?

Yes you can. If their friend doesn't end up coming on camp, your child will be allocated to a general room group and they will make new friends. Please note: having their friend down as a room mate preference doesn't guarantee that friend's place on camp.

10. How can campers be contacted?

After registering your child on a camp you will receive a 'camper letter' outlining the phone numbers by which you can reach your child in an emergency.

11. What does my child need to take on camp?

This information is contained in the 'camper information letter' which is emailed to you approximately a fortnight before camp begins.  If you do not have an email address we will mail it to you.  The list is also available on our website on the camps list page next to each camp. Furthermore, you can take a look at a generic list of what to take on our Camp Checklist page.

12. What is the daily program for camp?

Each camp's daily program is different but for a general idea of what a day on camp looks like, please visit our Life@Camp page.
